Description

Rakau™ or AlphAroma as it was previously known as, are a New Zealand native Triploid that was bred in the 1970’s to be a dual purpose hop. It was bred from Smooth Cone through open pollination and released to the market in 1980. It was re-released to the market in 2007 with the help of New Zealand grower New Hop Lands and named after the hamlet the farm is located near. Rakau grows extremely quick being one of the fastest climbing hops in the yards followed by its robust canopy loaded with cones. Rakau™ imparts new world flavors of stone and pome fruits with its moderate intensity making it a great companion to many other hops in flavorful and aromatic IPA’s, Pales Ales and even hoppy lagers or Cold IPAs.

Aromas: Sweet Peach, Pomegranate, Tropical Apple/Pear notes with Citrus undertones.
