Description

Originally bred by Charles (Chuck) Zimmerman as part of a USDA breeding program sometime in the 1970’s, Columbus represents the C in CTZ (Columbus, Tomahawk® and Zues). Though they’re all clumped together Columbus and Tomahawk share the exact same DNA while Zues is distinctly different genetically. Columbus and Zues however are sisters Columbus has found itself to be a dependable bittering hop and has found its way into many craft brewers dry hopping additions. It features a punchy hoppiness and deep, pensive aroma with understated citrus notes—perfect as a dual use hop. Though the Alpha acids might be high it adds a wonderful Citrus note to any dry hopped beer, and with its depth of flavor it can make a wonderful single hopped beer!

Aromas: Herbal and Dank with rich Citrus notes. Great for dry hopping citrus forward beers.
